Getting to the Ubaye from Marseille

2h30 from Marseille to a legendary river for whitewater sports.

Marseille, the sea, the calanques... and a 2h30 drive to the north-east, a legendary river that changes everything. The Ubaye is your mountain getaway from the coast — cool water, fierce rapids, landscapes that reshape you in a few hours.

A mountain escape from Marseille

From Marseille, 2h30 of driving separates you from our boats. You leave the Mediterranean air, the calanques, the coastal warmth — and enter the Alps, mountain water, wild landscapes.

It's a radical change of scene. The Ubaye offers this contrast: from the coast, you plunge into a river that ignores the Mediterranean's gentle nature entirely. Learn more about the river →

Our Méolans-Revel base is easy to reach via the A51 then the RN85 (Durance valley), heading towards the Ubaye valley. Free parking and a warm welcome.

When to make this coastal escape?

Spring (April–June): Cold water, high flow — the rapids are at peak power. From Marseille, your moment to experience raw adrenaline.

Summer (July–August): Warmer water, moderate flow — ideal for families looking for the mountain/coast contrast. Conditions remain excellent; the water is more manageable.

Autumn (September–October): Lower water levels, golden landscapes — a perfect moment for a quieter, more immersive experience with loved ones.
